My Nana was quickly getting worse and so my mom headed down to Houston before Thanksgiving. We had been planning on spending Thanksgiving at my Aunt Lou and Uncle Mark's ranch near Houston and so we went ahead and left a little early so I could see Nana. We left as soon as Rob got off work around 3am and were in Houston by 9:30! We made Rob go to sleep and Mom took me over to see Nana. I didn't think the kids would want to go in but Cooper insisted. It was so special. She was sleeping through most of the visit but woke up long enough to hear the kids sing Jesus Love Me to her. At one point she looked at Georgia and called her Carolina. It made me smile and I am so glad she got to see the kids. We let her rest and headed out to Brenham to start our weekend.
Cooper quickly discovered the magic couch and football on TV.
The Housers do Thanksgiving BIG. By big I mean tons people. It is awesome all 4 four of their girls. Son-in-laws, their families, us it is one of my favorite places to be.
And both kids were super excited to get to hang out with Anderson.
Cooper was adamant about sitting next to Ellie. So much so he was willing to straddle the bench.
The weather was perfect Thanksgiving and Gabby started early with a iced cookie for breakfast.
Rob really enjoyed spending the day in the outdoor kitchen grilling and smoking deep frying meat with all the boys!
We enjoyed the outside and all of the family. Cooper soaked it all in.
Aren't my cousins beautiful! I can't believe how grown up they are.
Aunt Lou even joined in on the trampoline fun.
We got to enjoy dinner out on the patio. Cooper and Gabby get their very own head table.
Here is the cheering section for the volleyball game. Isn't Ellie's dog Case beautiful.
Of course Mom and Rob had to test out Uncle Mark's new skeet machine.
Of course Rob snuck Cooper's little rifle in for the trip. Not the appropriate gun for Clay Pigeons but he doesn't know that.
Uncle Mark and his Great Nephew.
Hubba Hubba
Gabby decided she wanted to come on down for the fun
and a little target practice of her own.
This picture made me laugh...I promise it is not wine in her glass it is apple juice.
Snug as a bug
Cooper wanted to snuggle with his new little sister for a little while.
That evening Rob got a deer. Good thing he had all these young men to help him.
After the kids went down for the night I got to enjoy some time by the fire with the ladies.
The next morning was out last one there. The girls wanted to go 4-wheeling in my old jeep so the kids and I decided to join in on the fun.
Olivia (Anderson's sister) was our chauffeur. She did a good job.
We got mud everywhere
The kids LOVED it.
Nothing like getting to act like a college student again!
These kids are spoiled rotten by their cousins.
When we pulled back up to the house I think everyone was a little shocked at our appearance.
The mud crew!
It took several shampoos to get it all out. And a power washer to get the Jeep cleaned up. But all worth it for these smiles!
It was a perfect Thanksgiving.....can't wait to go back. Thousands of thanks to Uncle Mark and Aunt Lou for being such incredible hosts.
