Surprise Visit from Gran!

My Nana has dementia and it has been quickly getting worse in the last couple of months. She has been in and out of the hospital with low blood pressure and some infections. My mom decided she needed to come down and spend some time with her and help my Uncle Mark & Aunt Lou make some decisions. It was not a "happy" reason to get to make a trip south but we were so glad we got her for the end of her stay.
A couple of nights before she came up here from Houston we moved Gabby into her big girl bed in her room with Cooper. Boss and Gertie were staying with us (Jenny happened to be in Houston for school and got to see Nana too).
Boss, Cooper & Gabby slept there all night! SUCCESS!
Since Gran's visit was so last minute she was forced to go along with all of our usual plans....I think she loved it. We kept Meg one afternoon. I got to pick her up at school, Gran went and got Cooper early and we had a fun filled lunch at Chick-fil-a.
Then Gran's bake shop opened and they all made pumpkin cookies.
Norman got a Homegoods so we had to check it out. Cooper and Gabby insisted on having their pictures taken in this crazy chair.

Hudson joined us for the Homecoming Parade.
Cooper and him enjoyed having each other to themselves.
Our last and rainiest tailgate of the year.
Gran, Uncle Zach and the kids spent the night at AJ's so we went and met them at S&B Burger in Midtown. Uncle Jeremiah created a menu motorcycle course.
The next morning it was time for a Shark game. And Coop was on fire!!! He scored 5 goals. Here as Coach Ryan was giving a pep talk Cooper butted in to remind them all he scored the 1st goal.
So glad Uncle Zach and Cat made it to see Coop's best game of the season.
Then it was time to head over to the Junior League's Monster Dash. Cooper was excited to get to run in the 1 Mile Fun Run.
As you can see the Baby bump has arrived.
He ran his little heart out and Gabby and Gran met him at the finish line to congratulate him.
Then it was costume contest time.
And guess who walked home with the 3rd place trophy?
Which she has not failed to mention everyday to Cooper that she has a trophy and he doesn't
My favorite was are neighbors the Smiths....they were Professor McGonagall, Mad-Eye Moody, Harry & Hedwig
After the run it was time for the McFarlin Fall Festival. It was a hit.
Gran went a little crazy on the sprinkles for the decorate your own cookie table.
Stella and Gabby would have played the spoon game all night.
of course we couldn't leave without a little facepaint.
We ended the night with dinner at the Mont....with Spiderman himself
We all crashed when we got home. Gran took a couple of days and headed down to Dallas to see Grandmother & Grandad and some friends. We missed her but we had plenty of Halloween activities to keep us occupied. Some good news is Nana seems to be holding strong and getting more settled in her new place. Please keep her in your prayers.
