Gran had mentioned headed down to Texas to tie up a few loose ends with my Nana's stuff. I told her to wait until Spring Break and we could make a little trip out of it. So Friday morning we packed up all 3 kids and headed down to Big D. We made it just in time for Cooper and I to head over for a lunch date with Amanda & Luke.
It was so nice to sit and visit with this girl and introduce her to Ruthie.
While these two played
On our way back over to Grandmother & Grandad's we stopped by to visit Aunt Lisa. We missed getting to see Mark but we did get to visit Rob's cousin Zach and Elizabeth
Cooper really wanted to hang out at Grandmother and Grandads so I grabbed Gabby and left him there to play to head over to the Callahans for some play time with them and the Weibrings.
Finley and Gabby had quite the Part-tay
Are they not the cutest.
Ruthie got lots of snuggle time with Steph!
I have some incredible pledge sisters and I am so grateful that Chi O brought them into my life.
The next morning we loaded up and headed south.
In the process of tracking down Aunt Pat we discovered that she was headed down with the Hainsfurthers to their ranch near Waco. The Schattles were down there too. So we decided to crash their party.
And it was perfect!!! You could tell Ruthie loves Aunt Pat as much as the rest of us do.
The place is incredible and I am so glad we changed up our plans a little and got to spend some time there.
Gabby had to spend a little time in the "naughty spot". She is very stubborn.
Mike & Lauri are finishing up a barn with some extra bedrooms and Cooper was so excited to get to help the Schattle boys haul the furniture in.
Once the rain slowed down a bit the kids took the boys and KK out for a joy ride. Well really they boys and KK took the kids.
Lauri enjoyed a little Ruthie time too. She is expecting grandbaby #2. They are very lucky babies!
I really have some of the coolest cousins. Emily loves my kiddos and they love her.
I am just so proud of her...she is all grown up on me.
Georgia had sweet eyes out for Paul.
They made themselves right at home.
Cooper stood patiently at the dinner bell waiting for Phil to give him the ok to ring it.
We enjoyed listening to the rain out on the porch.
Ruthie was very bright eyed.
But these two were worn plum out. So tired they shared a day bed.
We headed out the next morning for our next stop in Houston. We took the back roads on our way to Houston and enjoyed lunch at the appropriately named...
Cooper let me snap a pic of his freckles.
I am a lucky mama.
Then it was Houston time...with a quick bathroom break here.
This was our view at the tail end of the trip.
And then we got there...and Ruthie was the STAR
until Gabby wanted some attention.
good thing Uncle Mark is a good sport.
He also tried out his trademark baby hold on Ruthie. (he used to spend hours carrying his oldest Dixie like this when she was colicy)
Gabby figured out Amy could get Frozen on her computer.
And Cooper got some Anderson time in...
Gabby spent the morning tormenting Amy.
And Charlie spent the morning tormenting Coopers Rabbit.
Callie was not sure what to think of all of us.
Sarah needs one of these....she is a natural.
We ended up staying one more night which worked out perfectly so Coop could get some guy time.
Peas in a Pod.
Amy left that night to meet Ellie in College Station. She was going to meet some of the volleyball players there and to dinner with Ellie and her friends.
Mark & Lou were going to be joining them the next morning for her official tour of campus. (you would think my the 4th daughter they would know their way around). They decided it would be funny to show up at Ellie's place dressed like ultimate fans for their tour.
Apparently it worked...Amy was so embarrassed. No worries though they had a change of clothes. The kids thought it was awesome though. We had such a great time.
We were supposed to head out to see Uncle Jeff & Aunt Nicky but we got the call that Zach's moving van was showing up in Dallas so we needed to get back home to send them off.
We had promised the kids a little museum time though so we stopped in at the Perot Museum in Dallas.
It was very impressive
I recommend it to anyone in Dallas to check it out.
Gabby had to show off her dance moves
and a little leap frog.
We stopped back in to see Grandmother and Grandad a little longer.
I love that my kids have these two incredible great-grandparents to spend time with.
Then it was time to head back to Norman...well we had one more very important person to introduce Miss Dixie Ruth too....
All 3 Dixie's
Dixie Lynn, Dixie Ruth, Dixie Lee
It was the perfect Road Trip with a great ending.
